Time for the Haywood County Fair

August 23 from 10am to 6pm
Enter your crafts, photography, sewing items, baked goods, canned items, fresh produce, livestock, dairy, quilts, needlework and much more. Entries are due Tuesday, August 23 at the Haywood County Fair Grounds. You may drop off and register your items from 10am to 6pm.

Farm to Fork Day Camp

August 3-5 from 8:30 to 3pm
(Special interest sessions from 3 to 5pm)

4-Hers will go through the entire process of Farm to Fork in a variety of hands-on activities. Campers will visit farm tours to learn about production and propagation techniques, then tour local farmers markets to learn about marketing, and make freezer jam to learn about value-added production and the basics of food preservation.
The day camp run from 8:30am until 3pm and will take place at the Test Farm across the street from the Haywood County Cooperative Extension office. The cost of the three day camp is $35 dollars per youth (ages 6-11). An extended special interest workshop will run from 3pm to 5pm for an additional cost of $10.

Participants will need to bring a packed lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday. 4-H will provide lunch on Thursday, snacks daily, and transportation to farm sites. Note no sandals on farm tours Tuesday and Wednesday. Sandals will be fine for the pool on Thursday. Please bring swiming clothes and beach towel for the pool on Thursday. 4-H dress code prohibits two-piece bathing suits. The pool will however permit you to wear a t-shirt over a two-piece bathing suit.
